Our Story
A family. A mission. A community.

The SunRelief Project began in the middle of a Las Vegas summer.
As a family, we were volunteering at the Salvation Army during the peak of the season — temperatures well over 100°F, day after day. The people coming in for a meal and a few minutes out of the sun looked exhausted. Many were visibly sunburned. And it struck us how something as simple as a hat or an umbrella, things most of us don't think twice about, could be entirely out of reach for someone living without shelter.
That moment was the start of The SunRelief Project.
We launched The SunRelief Project to do something about the crucial need we saw in our community.. Our first outreach event is happening this summer, and we're working with local community partners to distribute sun protection items to people throughout the Las Vegas Valley during the hottest months — June, July, and August.
"Something as simple as a hat or an umbrella can be the difference between a manageable day and a dangerous one."
We're a small team with a clear mission. We don't want to just hand out hats — we want to build something repeatable, organized, and rooted in real partnerships, so that protection from the sun becomes part of how this city cares for its most vulnerable people.

Meet the Team
Driven by what we saw. Committed to what's possible.
How it Works
Donations are directly distributed to those most in need during the hottest summer months.
1.
Source
We partner with manufacturers, retailers, and donors to gather wide-brimmed hats and UV umbrellas — both new product and overstock.
2.
Coordinate
We work with established Las Vegas community partners to identify distribution sites and the people most at risk during heat events.
3.
Distribute
Our team hands out protection directly to unsheltered individuals throughout the Las Vegas Valley during the hottest months: June, July, and August.
4.
Report Back
We document our distribution events and report back to product donors so they can see the direct impact of their contribution.
